Little Amit was only 9 years old when our staff found him in early 2009, suffering with a terrible skin disease. He told NPWT's doctor that he had endured a constant burning sensation, a blistering rash all over his body, pain, itching, fever, and vomiting for over a year.
Amit has since received treatment in collaboration with a specialist in Patna city, funded by NPWT. On 17th April, 2009, clinic staff, Dr. Pramod (above right) and Mr Sanjeev, visited the Amit at his family home. They found Amit playing with a parrot, and reporting no problems eating, sleeping, or playing at all. His skin showed only spot-like traces and he said he felt no pain.
His condition will continue to be monitored by NPWT staff, however, we are overjoyed to see such a life-changing improvement in the quality of such a young life.
In a developed country, this would have been a simple case, cured in early stages, but with little access to medical care, it spread to cover his entire body. Thankfully, our doctor found him and intervened.
Amit's specialist care was made possible by our emergency health fund. If you'd like to contribute to this fund, click here.
