Orphanage Garden Project
In 2009, our skilled volunteer (horticulture), Andrew Kratzing helped establish a garden and pot plant scheme in the orphanage grounds, along with a dual composting system, so that all the kitchen waste can be put to good use to supplement the plants. Since then, Niranjana have welcomed a cow and her calf to their roost, so they have even more composting ability!
The children are learning about how to look after plants, taking on the responsibility of watering them each day. As a result, they now have access to a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables that the trees and plants bear.
