How important is this project?
It responds to: Having identified over 80 orphaned or abandoned children in our greater region.
Target population: Children age 6+ from 14 villages up to 100km from Bakrour.
Expected number of beneficiaries: Currently 22 children, with goals for expansion.
Expenditure: 20% of NPWT funds.
Key results delivered so far
- Shelter and care provided to 30 children
- Children's evolution from traumatised, disfunctional behaviour, to happy and healthy
- Children have received education and often performed well above average as students
- Upon purchasing a cow, we now have a sustainable source of milk for orphans, and a chance to teaching them about animal care
Project goals
We hope these children will grow up to be happy, healthy young men and women. Ultimately, they may play a part in the future of Niranjana's work, as it seems that many, after living in such a giving environment, already aspire to be teachers and doctors in poor communities when they grow up.
